Right Now, I'm on a Practice Drive
“You have to practice driving to get good at it, don't you?” At first the wheel feels foreign and every turn makes you tremble a little—but we know the real road is granted only to those who've come through practice.
Right now, I'm on a practice drive.
“You have to practice driving to get good at it.”
At first the wheel feels strange,
your foot tenses on the gas pedal,
and whether you're turning left or right,
you always tremble a little.
But we know.
The real thing is granted only to those who have passed through practice.
These days, I
try this road and that road.
It's fine to crash once or twice,
fine to wander into the wrong alley.
Because right now, I'm on a “practice road.”
This is a place where it's okay to fail.
A place where it's okay to pause for a while.
And a precious practice space
where I can learn to trust my own instincts.
Driving, in the end,
is a skill that settles into your hands, wraps around your body, and engraves itself on your heart.
No one teaches it to you,
and there's no right answer.
You just learn it your own way.
And at some moment,
I'll come to realize
that this wasn't simply practice—
it was already my road.
I'm truly grateful for this moment.
Because I can love the still-unpolished me
exactly as I am.
Knowing how to hit the brakes is courage too,
and changing direction on the wrong road is growth.
Where I have passed, a road appears.
