Why I Intend to Contribute to the Gwangju–Jeonnam AI and Tech Education Ecosystem
Knowledge that is only hoarded, never shared, changes nothing. I am posting this to burn my boats — and to publicly declare four concrete ways I will contribute to the region’s AI ecosystem.
Why I intend to contribute to the Gwangju–Jeonnam AI and tech education ecosystem.
“Knowledge that is only hoarded, never shared, creates no change at all.”
The reason I am leaving this post on Brunch today is to burn my boats — and to begin making a real, if small, contribution to the AI technology ecosystem of the Gwangju–Jeonnam region.
Gwangju–Jeonnam is currently a hub building one of the most dynamic AI ecosystems in the country, centered on the AI Industry Convergence Agency (AICA) and the Gwangju AI industrial complex.
But however excellent the infrastructure, what moves it in the end is people and practical capability. I believe a regional tech ecosystem can only enter a virtuous cycle when technical education and mentoring that work in the real field — not just in theory — reach the region’s talent.
Here, publicly, I declare the four concrete directions in which I intend to contribute.
1. Hands-on mentoring in partnership with local governments and public agencies
- Target: the AI Industry Convergence Agency (AICA), Gwangju Technopark, and similar institutions
- Role: participating as an instructor and mentor in AI talent development programs, providing tailored courses that local companies and working professionals can apply immediately on the job
2. Industry-academia cooperation and capstone mentoring with local universities
- Target: software-centered universities such as GIST, Chonnam National University, Chosun University, and Honam University
- Role: architecture feedback on aspiring developers’ projects, code review, tech stack advising, and practical startup lectures
3. Technical coaching for young people and aspiring founders
- Target: the Gwangju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, software Meister high schools, and others
- Role: consulting on adopting AI technology to carry ideas to working proof-of-concept level, and hands-on programming education for teenagers and young adults
4. Leading an autonomous AI tech community and meetups
- Target: any developer, student, or founder in the region
- Role: running regular seminars and meetups sharing end-to-end practical experience — API integration, lightweight LLMs (sLLM), AI orchestration, all the way to deploying real services
